Ratliff S, sml jpg - IMG_1060lrAs an artist I want to make a difference. This may take the form of making a body of work for an exhibition, a commission or working with others on a participatory arts project. I hope to make my art accessible to all and that my work connects with people, causing them to reflect and think.

Key influences in my work are social influences and nature. Often I am inspired by current social affairs, for example; asylum seekers, Alzheimer’s and student hardship. Within Nature it is the minute detail that I am attracted to, the colours of lichen and the movement of the sea. My preferred medium is glass and I use a variety of techniques, including; hot free blown glass, hot sculpted glass, bas relief kiln cast, sand – casting glass and screen printing.
